Reflection paragraph on process
This project was a very interesting project. It was pretty eas just real time consuming. I really enjoyed looking up all the pictures about snowboarding and seeing all the different syles of snowboarding. I disliked how much time it took to do this project. If I had to do this project again I wouldn't do anything differently, and I probably research about fishing.
Reflection paragraph on sources
It was very easy to find the sources that I used. They had multiple paragraphs that I used in this project. The one I think was the most useful is "The Snowboarding History" website. It was the most useful because it had a lot of paragraphs about my project. Finding these sources made my project a lot easier.

Reflection paragraph on findings
"Modern snowboarding began in 1965 when Sherman Poppen, an engineer in Muskegon, Michigan, invented a toy for his daughter by fastening two skis together and attaching a rope to one end so she would have some control as she stood on the board and glided downhill. Dubbed the “snurfer” (combining snow and surfer), the toy proved so popular among his daughter’s friends that Poppen licensed the idea to a manufacturer that sold about a million snurfers over the next decade. And, in 1966 alone over half a million snurfers were sold."
Paragraph #3

Paragraph #2
"In 1994 Snowboarding was declared as an Olympic Sport. Now it finally became accepted as a real competetive sport, not only a new trend which would disapear again. In the 1998 Olympics it was the first time ever that Snowboarding was accepted as an olympic sport. The new sport snowboarding was a huge success. But still people could find some of their prejudices about Snowboarders beeing affirmed."

Finding paragraph #1
"Many times someone doing something a little different and having his or her ideas catch on has changed history. The pasteurizing of milk to prevent spoiling and contamination is a perfect example. Snowboarding was also the result of someone doing something a little different. In a few short years we have taken a crazy idea and turned it into a household word and created a culture and language around it. Snowboarding has become an Olympic event and has even forced us to ask ourselves questions about our society when we use the phrase “Smoke a fatty for Rebagliati”.

"The first real Snowboard hit the market during the 1960's in the form of Sherman Poppen's Snurfer. It appeared like a weird crossover between a plywood sled and a skateboard deck. The rope attached to the front tip of the snurfer (board) offered the rider some control, and the steel tacks poking through the upper deck held the rider's feet in place."
This quote says that the first real snowboard really wasn't a snowboard it was more of a toy. It held the riders feet in place by steel tack poking through the top part of the board to keep the rider's feet in place. It also gave the rider some control.

Snowboarding tells us that it was initiated around the 1950s by a few surf and skate enthusiasts who used self-made boards to convey their skills to a new terrain: the snow.
This quote means that snowboarding was invented from surfers and skaters trying out new things on new terrain. This has now come to be one of the most popular winter sports around. It always offers new things to do.

"Snowboarding is a high adrenaline purely fun sport. But with this kind of physical sport there are always risks involved. Being familiar with the safety measures and precautions when snowboarding will greatly reduce the chances of you retiring early from your budding extreme sports career!"

"Snowboarding is a very recent sport and is similar to Surfing, skateboarding, and Skiing. Likewise, it is not surprising that the origin of snowboarding lies in these sports. Although it is hard to pinpoint the pioneer of Snowboarding, the History of Snowboarding tells us that it was initiated around the 1950s by a few surf and skate enthusiasts who used self-made boards to convey their skills to a new terrain: the snow. At that time, due to the novelty of the Snowboards, those contraptions often resulted in many broken boards and a lot of bruises."
This quotation says that snowboarding is a very recent truck. It also says that snowboarding is alot like surfing, skateboarding, and skiing. Snowboarding also has resulted in many broke boards and a lot of bruises.

"It is hard to say who actually "invented" the first snowboard. People would have always figured out how to slide down a hill on some sled, thus it would be unfair to point out one specific person, who came up with "the first" snowboard."
This quote means that there was just one person who invented the first snowboard. It was multiple people helped invite the first snowboard over time. People that invented "invented" the first snowboard were just standing on a sled and going down a hill.

This photo shows a manufacturer that makes and designs some of the best snowboards you can buy on the market. This relates to my topic because it shows how snowboards have gone from little toys you would buy at wal-mart to having factories building them. This is just a small snowboarding factory so there are much larger companies that make snowboards.

What I want to know about my topic...
I know a good bit of snowboarding already since I've been doing this sport for awhile, but there are some things I would still like to learn. My essential question that I am asking is, how has snowboarding changed over the years? One of the things I wish to learn is where did snowboarding originate at? Also, I would like to know how has snowboarders progressed their style to where it is now? What extremes do snowboarders go to? What type of terrain do snowboarders snowboard on? How has snowboarding change?

What I already know about topic....
Well some things that everyone knows the they need to snowboard is snow. I know that you need a snowboard and very good snowboard boots so you don't break and ankle. You need a water proof jacket and pants so you don't get wet on the slopes. You need a good under layer under your jacket and pants so you will stay warm. You also will need a helmet and goggles. You will need a good pair of waterproof gloves to keep your hands warm and not get frostbite.
The story behind my topic choice.
The reason I chose this topic was because I love to snowboard. I have been snowboarding for 6 years now. I go snowboarding about 10 times a year even though I live at the beach. Snowboarding is very fun. Some of the most popular places to go snowboarding in the U.S. is in Colorado is Aspen Ski Resort and Breckenridge. I would also like to own a snowboarding shop after I graduate college.
